Does Consciousness Exist For Sea Urchins?

The concept of consciousness intrigues me and the relationship that exists between humans and animals astounds me, especially domestic animals like dogs and cats. But I’ve heard of stories where humans have developed a deep connection with a wild animal like a lion or a tiger. Does this mean the animal has a level of consciousness for them to be able to identify one human as being special from another or is it just a learned response? What about other things like sea urchins? I’ve never heard of a human bonding with a sea urchin but does that exclude these little sea creatures from having any level of consciousness? It’s not something that I’m going to lose any sleep over but I was watching some sea urchins in a rock pool and it started me thinking about this. Google might be able to tell me; otherwise I suppose I’ll just have to put it down to one of the great mysteries of life.
